Will There be a Movie?

So here's something to think about: Disney owns ABC, the network which is airing 8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter, the TV show based on W. Bruce Cameron's book. Disney has also commissioned a screenplay for a feature-length film based on the book, which Cameron is writing right now.

If they make a movie, Disney will be doing something bold and unprecedented: putting together a big screen and small screen interpretation of the same literary work at the same time.

Wouldn't that be interesting?

As of this date, the screenplay is shaping up to be much different than the TV show. But both are based on the characters from the book.

On the TV show, Bruce is played by John Ritter. If there's a movie, which star would be the best choice?
